Napa or Bust

This weekend my group of wonderful college friends had our yearly reunion.  This year we spent it wine tasting (and playing games, and eating, and laughing).  What an amazing and relaxing weekend.

We were so luckily to have the VIP treatment with private tastings. Saturday we went to four different wineries and had such an amazing time.  It was great to learn so much more about wine...and I was lucky enough to have my own personal tutor (one of our friends works in Napa in the Wine industry).

 
 

We got to tour the wine caves, and learned that any where in the world all underground wine caves are magically 58 degrees.  (I'm sure my sciency friends won't be surprised, but I thought that was pretty amazing. )  We learned about all of the different ways to ferment/store wine- wood, stainless steel, and even concrete...  Oh and we also learned that turkey burgers and garlic french fries make us not like the next wine we taste.  So...that's what they mean about food messing with your palate....
 

 
  

I also got to meet a bit of a celebrity.  This is Thomas, the pup that lives at Hall Winery.  They have this amazing book called The Winery Dogs of Napa (which of course I had to purchase) and Thomas is featured in it. 

P.S.-It would make a great gift for anyone who loves dogs and loves wine!
 
I'm already looking forward to next year's reunion...and crossing my fingers that it will be in Napa again!  :)
